DAY TRIPPING Another thing we loved about Silver Muse was the option of disembarking at each carefully chosen international port at our own pace. Nothing is a rush or too much trouble and many of the town centres are just a short stroll from the ship. The ports themselves were spectacular, with bespoke excursions easily organised via the Shore Concierge Desk if you fancied something a bit off the beaten track. Places we particularly loved (and can highly recommend) included Taormina in Sicily, a medieval cliffside town filled with boutique-lined streets (and home to Ristorante La Piazzetta, for a truly authentic, elegant lunch). The picturesque, whitewashed islands of Santorini and Mykonos are Greek gems and places we shopped, enjoyed the art and took photos galore. Rhodes, too, is a must-visit for the chance to witness Mt Philerimos and the ancient Doric village of Lindos. One can’t go past the Turkish ports of Izmir and Kusadasi for fantastic retail therapy that won’t break the bank, including shopping for exquisitely made local handicrafts and leather goods. When not ashore we browsed and shopped in Silver Muse’s onboard boutiques. BELOW: The town of Capri on the island of the same name in the Bay of Naples.
