RACY REDS It has a time and a place, but there is nothing more sexy and sophisticated than a pop of red on the lips. Yes, it takes maintenance and courage to wear, but, boy, does it make an impact! A white shirt will never look so crisp and a tailored tuxedo suit will shine in the company of this beautiful classic shade. Cooler skin tones will want to seek out blue-toned reds, which are in abundance, while a warmer skin will benefit from a more orange-based red. MAC Lipstick in Ruby Woo, $32. Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge in Rouge Grand Amour, $59. Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Moisture Lipstick in Bold Red, $49. Dr Hauschka Lipstick in Warm Red, $49. Shiseido Perfect Rouge in Red, $51. PRETTY PINKS Pink is a universally flattering shade, which scopes from a light smattering of petal pink all the way through to a bright bolt of fuchsia. While most skin tones will carry off a light pink pout, if you are daring enough to choose a brighter variant, keep in line with your skin tone. Cooler skin tones (pink skin with blue veins), opt for a cool shade that is bright and fearless. Warmer tones (yellow-based skin with green veins) will be better suited to a warmer shade like a berry pink. CUTE CORALS You don’t want pink, but you don’t want red either? OK, so enter stage left: coral. This in-between shade deserves a bit of the shine, thanks to its ability to warm the skin and suit everyone from blondes all the way to brunettes without a complaint. Pale complexions will adore a light, luminously sheer slick of coral, while darker beauties can get away with a shock of deeper pigmented coral that could be mistaken for an orange.
